On this week’s Dear Katie, I received a question that I feel a lot of people can relate to: I’m really tight on time but I know content is important. Do you have any suggestions?

I can relate. Creating social media content – or any content – takes a lot more time than most people estimate.

Content creation is a serious commitment and one that you need to start focusing on if you want to create a digital presence.

Today, I’m going to share one of the highest-impact strategies that will create endless social media content ideas.

The best part? You can start using this strategy this week, and it will only require 30-60 minutes of your time.

Yup, 30 minutes!

How to Create Endless Content Opportunities

Host a Weekly Live Event

Host a weekly online live show.

  • Format ideas: Invite people to your live event, such as your customers, prospects or others to whom you can ask questions. You can interview an affiliate partner or client if you like, or you can also bring on a guest expert to learn from them. Tailor your ideas to your audience’s interests and personal preferences. You can change your ideas over time. The most important thing is to simply get started.
  • AMA shows: I’m a big fan of the “ask me anything” (AMA) style live shows. You invite people to ask you questions and you answer them. AMA’s are great for building a content strategy and it will help you build an audience in the process.

Live events are intimidating to start for some people, but once you get the hang of them, it will be much easier for you to start repurposing content. Your live show will also allow you to build a strong following and be seen as an expert in your niche.

Repurpose the Content

Transform your live show into multiple content pieces, including:

  1. Weekly podcast: A weekly podcast is ideal for any live event because some people prefer audio content and listen to podcasts on the train, in the car, when walking, while at the gym, etc. You’ll gain credibility with a podcast and can reach an entirely new audience.
  2. Social media video and text posts. From your podcast, you can create short and engaging video clips that contain key insights from your show. These clips can be posted on social media platforms. You can also create textual posts summarizing key takeaways from the show, quotes or insights.
  3. Blog posts. Some people believe blogs are dead, but you’d be amazed by how much traffic these posts can drive if you have the right topics and optimization. For each episode, you can create a post that summarizes the points discussed in your podcast, along with relevant links and any other insights or commentary you want to add.
  4. Newsletter. Send out a weekly newsletter sharing these pieces of content, inviting people to join your weekly live show, etc.

The Best Part? This Strategy Requires a Minimal Time Investment

The best part about this strategy is that it should only require an hour of your time every week.

Here’s how:

  • Focus the bulk of your time on the Live Show. The show itself should be your primary time commitment, so aim for a 30-60 minute session. That’s it – stay in your zone of genius.
  • Outsource your post-production tasks. Once you’ve wrapped up the live show, start delegating the post-production tasks, like editing, production, and distribution. These tasks can be handled by any member of your team with the right skills or an agency like mine.

Outsourcing post-production tasks is what will save you so much time and allow you to have tons of content at all times. What will your post-production team be doing?

  • Editing, producing and publishing the podcast.
  • Sharing the production with any relevant guests you had on.
  • Creating social media clips and posts.
  • Writing blog posts.
  • Creating newsletters.

Content is no longer a nice-to-have. It’s a must-have.

And this strategy can help you stay on track to creating new content consistently.
